Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead structural design and analysis for Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) hardware. You will own modeling, analysis, and documentation of motor cases, nozzles, insulation, joints, and load-bearing interfaces, guiding the SRM program in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The role may be performed remotely or onsite in Huntsville, AL, Niceville, FL, or Hampton, AR, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Engineering and 8–10 years of experience are required.
• Engineering major is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test mechanical equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and reports.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement procedures and resolve issues.
• Evaluate design proposals and data for feasibility, cost, and maintenance needs.
• Specify components and direct modifications to meet specs.
• Investigate failures and advise on maintenance actions.
