Job summary

CesiumAstro, located in Westminster, Colorado, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the design and testing of spacecraft hardware from concept to qualification. You will work cross-functionally to develop mechanical systems, perform analyses, and guide decisions ensuring performance and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in mechanical/ aerospace/related field with 5–8 years of experience (or higher degrees with fewer years).
• Strong fundamentals in machine design and product development practices.
• Experience with CAD, analysis, testing, and documentation for complex mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of components, assemblies, and hardware for spacecraft-related products.
• Perform structural, tolerance, thermal analyses; conduct design trade studies.
• Evaluate drawings, CAD models, and technical docs to support decisions.
• Develop and conduct mechanical testing, verification, and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, reports, BOMs, and change documents.
• Support design reviews and engineering investigations with data and recommendations.
• Identify improvements in design, processes, and validation efforts.
