Job summary

Redwire Space Enterprises in Goleta, CA seeks a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team developing space flight hardware. You will model, analyze and document components and assemblies, ensuring designs meet rigorous aerospace standards and program requirements.

The role emphasizes SolidWorks modeling, PDM-based configuration control, and collaboration across engineering disciplines to deliver deployable solar arrays and related space mechanisms.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical or Aerospace or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience with design, manufacture and verification of electromechanical systems, photovoltaics, and composite structures.
• Experienced with SolidWorks (large assemblies), PDM and ERP systems.
• Experienced with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 along with tolerance analysis capabilities.
• Ability to travel - an average of 10-15% travel may be required.
• US Citizenship Required, with the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D solid models using SolidWorks CAD software in support of new and existing space flight programs.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure that designed components and systems meet all requirements.
• Create, maintain, and release component, assembly, and layout drawings compliant with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards. Utilize SolidWorks PDM system to maintain configuration control
• Lead the design and development of deployable solar arrays.
• Proactively interface with multi-disciplinary team members to optimize component and system designs that meet all technical, cost and schedule requirements
• Utilize hardware-based techniques to perform research and development, iterate on design concepts, correlate engineering models, and develop manufacturing processes and procedures
• Generate technical documentation, reporting and presentations of design, test, and analysis results
