Job summary

TRL11 is seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical development of space avionics and electro-optical imaging systems from requirements through production and sustainment.

This role covers the full product lifecycle, including requirements definition, mechanical architecture, detailed design, drawing release, supplier selection, environmental testing, and ongoing product support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical product development experience.
• Experience owning complex hardware from design through sustainment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and release with CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical development and sustainment of space avionics and imaging systems.
• Translate system and optical needs into mechanical requirements.
• Develop architectures, designs, drawings, and release packages.
• Design enclosures, assemblies, and interfaces with tolerance analysis.
• Plan and execute system verification testing and environmental tests.
• Support prototypes, first article inspection, and manufacturing partnerships.
