Job summary

Alumni Founders in Long Beach, CA, designs space-grade avionics hardware, delivering enclosures and thermal systems for harsh launch and space environments. This role leads mechanical design from concept through testing, requiring hands-on lab work, CAD proficiency, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability and flight readiness.

You will own analysis, rapid iteration, and validation, working with suppliers and internal groups to meet stringent standards and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with over 7 years of experience in aerospace mechanical design or thermal management.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and hands-on experience building and testing hardware in a lab are essential.
  • Experience ensuring hardware tolerances and reliability in spaceflight environments is required.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, development, and delivery of mechanical hardware for space science avionics platforms.
  • Develop enclosures and thermal accommodations to survive launch and space environments.
  • Perform rapid iteration, analysis, and testing to validate designs and meet specifications.
  • Collaborate across functions to ensure build manufacturability and test readiness.
