Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA, seeks an R&D S&E Mechanical Engineer to perform solid mechanics and structural dynamics research, modeling, and simulation for national security projects. You will build and analyze finite element models, develop novel capabilities, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across sites.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's in a relevant field with 5 years of experience or equivalent, and the ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build finite element models of components, sub-assemblies, or full systems and perform non-linear static or dynamic analyses.
• Perform research, development, and simulations and share results through internal reports and reviews.
• Provide validated simulation results for high consequence engineered systems for national security missions.
