Job summary

Mercury Systems seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead products from concept to production release for rugged military and space environments. You will design electronics packaging, perform thermal/structural analyses, and draft BOMs while coordinating with Hardware, Manufacturing, Quality and Procurement.

Responsibilities include ECR/ECO management, fixture design, 3D CAD modeling, and producing precise documentation for verification, validation, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
• Minimum of 6 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Familiarity with GD&T, ASME Y14.5, Y14.100.
• Experience designing electronics packaging for severe environments, MIL-STD-810.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or CREO.
• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques including machining and post‑processing for CCAs and metal components.
• Strong understanding of heat-transfer design and dynamic system design for shock and vibration environments.
• Experience with configuration management and material control processes (routers, work instructions, Agile, Oracle, EPDM).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead products through full lifecycle from concept to production release.
• Perform mechanical engineering for rugged subsystems and PCB assemblies.
• Collaborate with Hardware, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement.
• Develop and maintain BOMs/PLs for configuration and production control.
• Draft and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and ECOs.
• Design mechanical hardware for rugged military and space environments.
• Conduct thermal and structural analyses and simulations.
• Design fixtures to support testing and advanced manufacturing.
• Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.
• Produce clear documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Support environmental and functional design verification testing per MIL-STD-810.
