Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in rotating equipment for our client in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will design, specify, troubleshoot and optimize turbines, compressors, pumps and generators to ensure reliability and efficiency of critical plant assets.

This hybrid role requires collaboration with operations, maintenance and project teams, mentoring junior engineers, and staying ahead of best practices in rotating equipment technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of rotating equipment experience.
• PE-registration is highly desirable.
• Experience with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, selection and application of rotating equipment (turbines, compressors, pumps).
• Develop technical specifications for procurement of new rotating equipment.
• Lead root cause analyses for equipment failures and performance issues.
• Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies including condition monitoring.
• Review and approve drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and project teams for reliable operation in Queenstown.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and operation.
• Stay updated on latest rotating equipment technologies and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training.
• Ensure compliance with standards, safety regulations and industry best practices.
