Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with robotics/structural analysis expertise to design, analyze, and test critical mechanical components and systems for space applications. You will develop robotic and automated systems, perform FEA, and ensure reliability in harsh environments while collaborating across disciplines.

You will mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement of design and analysis processes within ACE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and analysis.
• Experience in robotics, automation, or mechatronics.
• Expertise in structural analysis, including hand calculations and FEA.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Strong GD&T knowledge and dimensional control.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for employment.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop robotic and automated systems from concept to production.
• Perform detailed structural analysis (static, dynamic, thermal) via FEA and hand methods.
• Design and analyze deployable systems in harsh environments.
• Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and specs.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers for integration.
• Troubleshoot issues and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to process improvements in design and analysis workflows.
