Job summary

Ndimensions Labs in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take robotic platforms from prototype to production. You will own the transition to manufacturing, design cosmetic enclosures, and ensure fit, finish, and reliability of the finished machine.

You’ll collaborate with electrical, firmware, and AI teams to integrate motors and sensors, perform GD&T analyses, and drive DFMA. Bachelor's or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, ideally on robotic, electromechanical, or precision hardware products.
• Solid proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
• Hands-on experience with motor and actuator integration and mechanical packaging.
• Demonstrated experience taking mechanical designs from prototype through to manufacturing and production.
• Experience designing plastic parts for molding (cast urethane and/or injection), including cosmetic surfaces and working directly with molders.
• Solid grounding in mechanism design, tolerance analysis, materials selection, and design for manufacturability.
• A builder's instinct — comfortable in the lab fabricating, assembling, and debugging real hardware.

Responsibilities

• Drive the transition from prototype to production, working directly with vendors, contract manufacturers, and machine shops to get parts made to spec, on time, and at cost.
• Design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) across the whole machine — with particular ownership of cosmetic plastic parts.
• Design robotic mechanical systems end to end: manipulators, joints, drivetrains, chassis, mounts, enclosures, and structural components.
• Own the design lifecycle in 3D CAD — modeling, tolerance analysis (GD&T), drawings, prototyping, and bring‑up.
• Build, test, and iterate on hardware in the lab — fabrication, assembly, and hands‑on debugging of mechanical and electromechanical issues.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, firmware, and AI engineers to integrate motors, sensors, and compute into cohesive robotic assemblies.
• Run structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis (FEA where appropriate) to validate designs before committing to hardware.
