Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in robotics, automation, or industrial equipment.
  • Proven experience taking products from design through production and deployment.
  • Strong background designing precision components and assemblies (machined, sheet metal, welded).
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo or similar).
  • Experience managing engineering docs, revisions, and change control.
  • Familiarity with tolerance analysis, design validation, risk assessment, QA methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience building and evaluating prototypes.

A rapidly growing robotics and automation company in the Boston area is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to play a critical role in the development of advanced industrial robotic systems. This full-time opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys bringing physical products from concept through deployment while solving complex mechanical challenges that directly impact product performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

This position goes far beyond traditional product design. You'll be involved in every stage of the engineering lifecycle, from early concept development and prototyping through production support and field performance improvements. The team is looking for someone who combines strong mechanical design expertise with a hands‑on engineering mindset and a passion for building robust hardware that performs in demanding real‑world environments. Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience within robotics, automation, industrial equipment, or similar technology-focused industries
  • Proven experience taking products from initial design through production and deployment
  • Strong background designing precision components and assemblies utilizing machined, sheet metal, and welded structures
  • Proficiency with modern CAD software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar parametric modeling tools
  • Experience managing engineering documentation, design revisions, and change-control processes
  • Familiarity with tolerance analysis, design validation, risk assessment, and quality assurance methodologies
  • Hands‑on experience building and evaluating physical prototypes

  • Prior work on robotic systems, automated machinery, or electromechanical products
  • Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up efforts and production launches
  • Understanding of supplier qualification and quality review processes
  • Exposure to CNC machining, fabricated assemblies, additive manufacturing, and injection molding techniques
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues during manufacturing builds or field deployments
