Job summary

Symbotic is hiring an Advanced Mechanical Engineer to join the Cell Engineering team in Boston. You will design and improve electromechanical components for robotic warehouse automation, collaborate across disciplines, and support fabrication, testing, and commissioning.

The role requires 5+ years in mechanical design, SolidWorks proficiency, and familiarity with CAD/FEA and PLM processes. Travel up to 20% may be required; strong problem-solving, teamwork and autonomy are essential to succeed in

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on mechanical engineering or design experience.
• Experience in robotics or related field preferred.
• Proficient in SolidWorks; CAD/FEA a plus; PLM experience preferred.
• Experience with fabrication processes and documentation standards.
• Strong problem-solving and priority management skills.
• MS Office proficiency and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Create and design components for electromechanical machinery and systems.
• Provide technical support for projects in production and implementation.
• Prepare and review drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Develop tools and equipment for robotic cells and automation equipment.
• Visit customers to collect data and assess field conditions.
• Source products, contact suppliers and validate critical components.
• Assist commissioning, testing and validation of equipment.
• Help develop installation and maintenance manuals.
• Coach colleagues on parts design and standards.
• Ensure design intent is understood across disciplines (electrical, controls, robotics).
• Document test procedures for prototype validation and PLM tasks.
