Job summary

Gritt seeks a senior mechanical engineer to own the integration of robotic arms onto skid-steer and tracked platforms, taking systems from prototype to repeatable field deployment on construction sites across extreme environments.

You will design rugged mounts, enclosures, and cable harnesses, validate thermal and sealing performance, and lead DFx practices, interfacing with suppliers, shops, and field teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical engineering in robotics or heavy equipment.
• Experience integrating robotic arms onto mobile platforms.
• Proven IP67 design and field deployments in outdoor environments.
• Hands-on cabling and harness design experience.
• Expert CAD experience (OnShape/SolidWorks) with GD&T.
• Willingness to travel 15–25% to field sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical integration of robots onto skid-steer and tracked platforms.
• Design mounts, enclosures, actuators, and end-effectors for outdoor duty.
• Architect reconfigurable platforms for multiple tasks without rebuilding.
• Own environmental strategy: IP67, sealing, thermal management.
• Design and validate wire harnesses and assemblies.
• Integrate sensor and lighting packages with FOV and vibration considerations.
• Drive DFA/DFM/DFS from CAD reviews.
• Perform structural analysis and plan validation tests.
• Collaborate with shops, harness houses, and suppliers; manage ECOs.
• Travel to field sites and diagnose failures for rapid iterations.
