Job summary

Harvard Bioscience is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our product development team supporting the Buxco line of respiratory systems. You will sustain and enhance current products while driving next-generation designs, balancing performance with manufacturability.

The role requires expertise in mechanical design, precision instrumentation, and collaboration with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure system-level success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in medical devices, life sciences, or precision instrumentation.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; master's degree preferred.
• SolidWorks and mechanical analysis software experience; DFMEA knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of new respiratory and inhalation systems from concept through commercialization.
• Provide sustaining engineering support, design updates, reliability improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Develop and maintain detailed design documentation per company policies.
• Conduct analyses including multi-factor tolerance studies, DFMEA, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, firmware, manufacturing, and scientific services teams to ensure system-level performance.
• Support prototype fabrication, design verification, and product validation activities.
• Interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability and quality of mechanical designs.
