Job summary

Orbital Engineering seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a REMOTE WORK role based in the United States, with preference for Chicago, Pittsburgh, or Philadelphia. You will lead multidisciplinary projects across heavy industrial sectors, guiding planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience, a PE license, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering, plus strong knowledge of ASME/API/NFPA/PIP.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• PE license required.
• 15+ years of heavy industrial mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with rotating equipment, piping, and utility systems.
• Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, and PIP standards.
• Strong client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering efforts for capital improvement, maintenance, expansion, and reliability projects.
• Develop scopes, engineering design criteria, and technical solutions with clients and internal project teams.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, equipment datasheets, and design deliverables.
• Develop specifications for pumps, compressors, utility, and process equipment.
• Prepare construction packages, scopes of work, procurement documents, and bid evaluations.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts with other teams.
• Support construction activities through RFIs, startup, and commissioning.
