Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Department Manager for the Heavy Industry division. This is a REMOTE opportunity for US-based candidates, with preference for Midwest residents.

The role requires project and resource management experience in a consulting environment and broad expertise in steel, petrochemical, mining, and power sectors. The manager will oversee department activities, lead engineering projects, and mentor staff while developing new business

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• PE license is required.
• Minimum of ten years of prior relevant engineering experience, preferably in heavy industrial environments.
• Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering teams and/or departments.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical activities of the Schedule; organize, direct and review department resources and activities.
• Develop and expand business opportunities.
• Provide technical liaison support for regional business development initiatives.
• Hire staff, establish goals, conduct performance reviews, and develop direct reports.
• Lead projects with long-term planning and fast-paced execution; manage scopes and costs.
