Job summary

Lutron Electronics seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join the Engineering team across multiple U.S. locations including Austin, Boston and Coopersburg.

You will design mechanical components, create CAD models, and perform analyses to ensure manufacturability and reliability for cutting-edge lighting and shading products. The role emphasizes prototyping, testing, design reviews, and collaboration with manufacturing, sourcing, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Science.
• Minimum GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned.
• 4 years of mechanical product design with a Bachelor's or 2 years with a Master's.
• Experience using 3D CAD software in a product development environment.
• Knowledge of statics and material properties.
• Experience with injection molding, stamping, extrusion, forming, and machining.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and to work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, tools, and fixtures for performance and manufacturability.
• Create 3D CAD models and engineering documentation for products and design changes.
• Perform FEA, tolerance analyses, DFM, and FMEA to validate designs.
• Identify and implement product improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
• Prototype designs using 3D printing, machine shops, and supplier resources.
• Build and test prototypes to evaluate performance and improve solutions.
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback into product designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and launch new products.
• Source, qualify, and support production tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing, supplier, and customer issues using root cause analysis.
• Uphold quality standards, customer focus, and continuous improvement initiatives.
