Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a role focused on refinery and oil & gas projects in the Puget Sound region. Hybrid work arrangement: three days in Ferndale office, two days remote.

Requires a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in mechanical engineering for refinery or related industries. Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical communication.
• Ability to adapt to changes and work flexibly across projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues.
• Assure all mechanical engineering designs meet applicable codes and standards including API and ASME.
• Perform code calculations for ASME B31.1/B31.3, BPVC Sec I and Sec VIII.
• Prepare mechanical equipment descriptions, sizing, and data sheets.
• Prepare equipment and piping technical specification packages for vendor quotes and bids.
• Perform technical bid evaluations and review vendor drawings and documentation.
• Check piping isometrics, layouts, and other piping details.
• Select welding procedures, NDE, and testing requirements.
• Prepare mechanical portion of construction packages.
• Interface with Client Reliability Engineers and Field Contractors.
• Complete final job walk-downs for mechanical acceptance and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
• Travel to local clients required; minimal travel elsewhere.
