Job summary

Infleqtion is seeking a system-level mechanical engineer to design the QGG sensor head for development, terrestrial, and space environments. You will drive structural, thermal, optical alignment, and integration tasks while collaborating across mechanical, optical, electrical, and systems teams.

The role requires 6+ years in precision hardware, expert SolidWorks skills, and DFx experience. Occasional travel up to 10% is expected, with a path to growth within a quantum tech platform.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in precision mechanical, opto-mechanical, aerospace, or high-reliability hardware roles.
  • Expert-level proficiency with SolidWorks CAD and related simulation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design the QGG sensor head and hardware for development, terrestrial, and space use.
  • Present progress, analyses, risks, design decisions, and test results to management and customers.
  • Lead modeling, simulation, analysis, and test-correlation for structural and thermal performance.
  • Integrate sensor-head subsystems with optical, electrical, vacuum, thermal, fiber, cable, and spacecraft interfaces.
  • Identify and manage key suppliers for precision parts and opto-mechanical hardware.
  • Support product lifecycle processes, phase gate reviews, and design reviews.
  • Develop mechanical risk-management and drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior engineers in mechanical design and tolerancing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
