Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer for on-site work in Carlsbad, CA, with potential location in Palm Bay, FL.

You’ll design and qualify precision mechanisms for mission-critical hardware, owning components from concept through test and production transition. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or higher) with 6+ years of relevant experience, and the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or graduate degree with 4+ years.
• Ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance and favorable polygraph.
• On-site work at Palm Bay, FL or Carlsbad, CA with lab and hardware test involvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate material selections and design trades to improve performance, size, weight, and reliability.
• Plan and execute component and system-level tests; analyze results and drive design improvements.
• Present designs and results at internal and customer reviews (PDRs, CDRs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to transition designs into production.
• Support field-test or demonstration activities as needed.
