Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer (Designer) to own major components and sub-systems, guiding designs from concept through integration and test for mission-critical systems. This on-site role supports Palm Bay, Chantilly, or Carlsbad locations.

You will develop 3D models, drawings, and data packages, evaluate design trades, and lead design reviews with manufacturing and test teams to ensure reliability and producibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance within the last two years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation.
• Evaluate material selections and design trades for performance, size, weight, power, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Plan and execute component and system-level tests; analyze results and drive design improvements.
• Present designs and results at internal and customer reviews, including PDRs and CDRs.
• Partner with manufacturing, quality, and program test teams to transition designs to production.
