Job Description
The Electrical Engineeris responsible forleading the development of complete electrical design packages, including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials that meet manufacturing, regulatory, and client requirements. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical control equipment, as well as the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and client teams. As a senior member of the Engineering team, this individual will provide mentorship, technical guidance, and design leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and deliver complete electrical design packages (schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and BOMs) for low- and medium-voltage control equipment.
- Ensure designscomply withapplicable standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL) as well as client specifications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and field service teams to resolve design challenges and improve reliability.
- Lead client-facing communication on technical issues, ensuring requirements aremetand solutions are delivered professionally and on time.
- Partner with estimators to provide design input on job size, configurations, and feasibility to supportaccurateproject quotes.
- Build andmaintainstrong vendor relationships to research materials, evaluatenew technologies, and develop design symbols.
- Provide technical support during production and client witness testing; troubleshoot wiring and control issues when needed.
- Mentor junior designers and engineers, supporting the department's continuous improvement of design standards, tools, and processes.
- Drive innovation by contributing to new product development and improvement projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Experience:
- 3+ years of electrical engineering design with Switchgear in the marine, heavy industrial, and oil & gas industries.
- 1+ years of experience with electro-mechanical power system design, including low/medium voltage power distribution, motor control centers,controlsintegration, and arc flash protection.
- Experience with marine, oil and gas, or energy sector projects (preferred).
- Understanding ofgenerator controls, protective relays, short circuit/coordination studies, and complex system integration.
- Proficiencyin design software: AutoCAD and related electrical CAD tools.
- Ability to read and understand client-supplied job specifications and one-line diagrams to create design criteria for project development.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL).
- Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work on fast-paced, short-turnaround projects.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills with an emphasis on cost, safety, and quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to prepare technical documentation and present to internal teams and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also leading cross-functional collaboration.
- Commitment to mentoring and developing junior team members.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License, preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- FLSA executive and professional positions paid on a salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)
- This role will be in officesetting,howeverfrequent visits to the production floor arerequiredto oversee operations, ensure compliance and safety standards.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to twenty-five (25) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
- Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
- Frequent travel to regional sitesrequired; presence on production floors is expected.
