Fortastra Corporation is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design, packaging, and integration of power subsystems on our spacecraft.

You will focus on how batteries and solar arrays are realized, including mounting, thermal, and harness routing, while collaborating with power electronics and avionics teams for flight-ready systems. This role advances cross-disciplinary work across propulsion, structures, and test, with a focus on robust, maintainable hardware for rapid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical/ aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years in mechanical design for space or high-reliability systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and creating engineering drawings.
• Experience designing mounting hardware for power hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical integration for spacecraft batteries and solar arrays.
• Own CAD models for battery modules and solar panel assemblies.
• Define mechanical interfaces and harness routing strategies.
• Incorporate thermal, structural, and vibration requirements.
• Produce detailed drawings, BOMs, and revision-controlled docs.
• Support packaging efficiency, integration access, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure buildability and testability.
• Resolve mechanical issues related to cable routing and interference.
