Job summary

Fortastra Corporation seeks a Sr. Avionics Engineer to own the full lifecycle of spacecraft avionics hardware, from concept through bring-up and flight integration.

You will architect subsystems, design PCBs, select components, and bring up hardware in the lab with close collaboration to flight software. Applicants should have strong EE design experience, with hands-on board bring-up and experience with CAN/SPI/I2C/UART and Linux-based tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing avionics hardware across full lifecycle.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout for mixed-signal boards.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and bench debugging.

Responsibilities

• Own full lifecycle of avionics hardware from concept to flight integration.
• Design flight computers and support boards with processors, memory, power, and interfaces.
• Select components and integrate electrical subsystems for reliable operation.
• Define board interfaces and data buses (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, SpaceWire).
• Develop ICDs for avionics connections to other subsystems.
• Bring up new boards in lab, write test firmware, debug issues with instrumentation.
• Collaborate with embedded software to integrate drivers and health monitoring.
