Job summary

Redtree is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep power plant design experience to lead front-end planning, detailed design, and construction administration for coal and natural gas-fired facilities, working with multidisciplinary teams.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with overseas staff, ensure quality standards across mechanical scope, and contribute to proposals and project lifecycles in a fast-growing, remote-friendly firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in power generation.
• Experience designing balance-of-plant mechanical systems for power plants.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers and reviewing technical work.
• Knowledge of hydraulic calculations, pump/piping sizing, valve/material selection.
• Familiarity with P&ID development and mechanical equipment condition assessment.
• Willingness to travel 10-20% to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for mechanical scope on power generation projects.
• Lead design for coal, natural gas, and combined cycle facilities.
• Mentor and review calculations, drawings, and design decisions.
• Manage and lead teams of mechanical engineers; plan workload.
• Coordinate with overseas staff and global CSI network for quality alignment.
• Perform front-end planning, preliminary and detailed design for mechanical systems.
• Design and size mechanical equipment and piping; perform related calculations.
• Develop and review P&IDs for pumps, vessels, and tanks.
• Support construction administration and startup via remote review.
• Contribute to proposals, scoping, and schedule estimation.
