Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Mechanical Senior Engineer I to lead design and analysis across projects from inception to construction. You will serve as discipline lead, coordinating internal and external resources and preparing project documents.

The role requires a BS in Engineering, 6+ years of piping/equipment experience, familiarity with PFDs/P&IDs and ASME/NFPA standards, and proficiency with CAESAR II, AutoPipe, AutoCAD. Excellent communication and time-management are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required; MS degree preferred; PE preferred.
• 6+ years of related engineering experience with industrial equipment and piping systems.
• Strong knowledge of PFDs and P&IDs; knowledge of valves and piping components.
• Familiar with PHMSA, NFPA 59A, ASME B31.1, B31.3, and ASME Section VIII.
• Experience with design software such as CAESAR II, AutoPipe, AutoCAD.
• Ability to manage client specs, procurement, commissioning, start-up standards, and vendor data approvals.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks under deadlines.
• Proactive, positive demeanor; good listening, oral and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design and analysis across projects.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, and staff; manage scope, budget, and schedule.
• Prepare project documents and presentations for clients.
• Ensure constructability and safety; perform QA checks.
• Attend project meetings and communicate progress.
