Job summary

Kforce Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for piping systems design, layout, installation and maintenance for nuclear and commercial projects. You will produce P&IDs, 3D models, and perform stress analyses while coordinating with multi-discipline teams.

The role requires 7+ years experience, a Mechanical Engineering degree, and strong knowledge of codes and regulations. Nuclear experience is preferred; PE or advanced degrees are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• PE certification preferred.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in nuclear industry preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Piping and systems design expertise.
• Knowledge of industry codes and regulations.
• Able to complete complex technical work with limited supervision.
• Fundamental principles of piping and mechanical design.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
• Site experience in construction or commissioning of heavy systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models for piping routes and plant setup.
• Perform engineering calculations using applicable design codes and methods.
• Specify piping materials, fittings, valves, and supports; conduct stress analyses.
• Prepare technical specifications, requisitions, and vendor recommendations.
• Review technical documents and drawings for multiple disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct quality reviews.
