Job summary

Jackola Engineering & Architecture, PC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a PE to join our Bozeman, Montana team, helping shape meaningful projects across Montana and the region. You’ll work with architects, engineers, planners, and designers to deliver practical, constructible mechanical solutions for a variety of building types.

The role emphasizes mentoring staff, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring designs meet energy codes and Jackola standards.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in designing building mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building systems and applicable energy codes.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage priorities, exercise sound judgment, and mentor junior staff.
• Demonstrated flexibility and strategic thinking to support long-term project and client goals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit, and Carrier HAP or a similar energy modeling platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor mechanical design staff through project design and construction phases.
• Develop practical, efficient, and constructible mechanical solutions to meet project goals.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to design HVAC and plumbing systems, prepare construction documents, and develop technical specifications.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, manufacturers, vendors, and internal project teams.
• Perform major equipment sizing and selection.
• Ensure designs meet Jackola's quality standards and project requirements.
• Utilize industry software to perform heating, cooling, ventilation, and plumbing load calculations.
• Support construction administration activities and respond to contractor questions during construction.
