Garmin is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Outdoor product team at the U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

The role focuses on advanced mechanical and electromechanical solutions, project planning, and engineering leadership for the Outdoor product category. Responsibilities include leading tough CAD-driven designs, specifying tests, and driving risk mitigation while collaborating with product teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or equivalent
• Excellent academics (GPA ≥ 3.0)
• Demonstrated ability to use CAD software for complex mechanical designs
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Complete the most difficult tasks as a Master CAD-user, including complex mechanical designs
• Knowledges of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining, material requirements and performance
• Specify test plans and verify complex mechanical systems to meet design requirements
• Manage tradeoffs and risks, drive vendor evaluations and support product development plans
• Lead explorations of new technologies and estimate tooling, part cost, and design time
• Understand industry and Garmin product qualification tests
• Provide reliable solutions and propose process improvements
