Job summary

Garmin International is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Outdoor product team at our Cary, NC location. You will apply advanced engineering skills and lead mechanical/electromechanical solutions from concept through validation.

Responsibilities include CAD design, evaluation of manufacturing processes, test planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust products for outdoor enthusiasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination
• Demonstrated knowledge and capability to use CAD software for completing complex mechanical designs
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Able to complete the most difficult tasks as a Master CAD-user including the completion of complex mechanical designs
• Knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining, material requirements, material performance, material limitations, etc.
• Specify test plans, mock up and test complex mechanical systems with complex performance requirements to validate and verify compliance with design requirements
• Manage basic tradeoffs, determine risk mitigation plans, determine project goal/objective feasibility, provide technical input to product development plans/concept documents, and drive process vendors to evaluate complex mechanical designs and understand risk
• Lead explorations of new technologies and make estimates on moderately complex mechanical designs including: tooling, part cost, and design time
• Knowledge of Industry and Garmin product qualification tests (environmental and others)
• Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques and offer process improvements and author new procedures

We are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer on our Outdoor product team at Garmin's location in Cary, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for providing advanced engineering skills and project planning for mechanical or electromechanical solutions or systems.
