Job summary

Physical Sciences Inc. is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead design, analysis, and prototyping of mechanical and optomechanical systems.

You will research materials and manufacturing methods, integrate optical designs into CAD, and validate prototypes through rigorous testing. Applicants should have a master’s in mechanical engineering, 5+ years in R&D, and strong CAD/CAE capabilities, with familiarity with aerospace/defense standards and ITAR.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline.
• At least five years of hands-on mechanical design experience in an R&D environment.
• Strong 3D CAD, materials, manufacturing, and simulation expertise.
• Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards and ITAR; US citizenship and active/obtainable DoD clearance.
• Hypersonics and thermal protection systems experience a plus.

Requirements

Requires a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline and at least five years of hands-on mechanical design experience in an R&D environment. Candidates should have strong 3D CAD, materials, manufacturing, and simulation expertise, familiarity with aerospace and defense standards and ITAR, some hypersonics and thermal protection systems experience, U.S. citizenship, and an active or obtainable DoD security clearance.
