Zen Sherpa LLC in Little Canada, MN, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, optimization and validation of advanced mobile mechanical systems for heavy equipment and demanding oil & gas applications.

The role is hands-on and on-site at our Little Canada facility, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to move concepts from CAD through prototype, testing and production release, ensuring reliability in high‑load, harsh‑duty environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's a plus)
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in heavy mobile equipment or related industries
• Proficiency in Inventor, Pro/E/Creo, or SolidWorks for complex assemblies
• Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, drivetrains, and structural weldments
• Experience taking designs from concept through prototype, testing, and production release

Responsibilities

• Mobile Equipment Design — engineer and develop heavy mobile mechanical systems including hydraulic circuits and lifting mechanisms
• System Performance Optimization — improve reliability and efficiency in harsh environments
• CAD Modeling & Drafting — create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings
• Prototype Build & Validation — support onsite fabrication, testing, and refinement
• Field Issue Troubleshooting — diagnose issues and implement corrective actions
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration — work with manufacturing, electrical/hydraulic engineering, and field teams
