Zen Sherpa LLC in Little Canada, MN, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design, optimization, and validation of advanced mobile mechanical systems for demanding industrial and oil & gas applications. This role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, mechanical creativity, and field-ready equipment.

The position is 100% on-site at our Minneapolis‑St. Paul facility with daily collaboration across engineering and fabrication teams. Travel to customer sites is expected occasionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's a plus).
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in heavy mobile equipment or related industries.
• Proficiency in Inventor, Pro‑E/Creo, or SolidWorks for complex assemblies.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, power units, drivetrains, and mobile mechanical assemblies.
• Demonstrated ability to take designs from concept through prototype, testing, and production release.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and technical reporting skills for design reviews and cross‑team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, optimization, and validation of advanced mobile mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, fabrication, electrical/hydraulic engineering, and field teams.
• Support onsite prototype builds, testing, and iterative refinement.
• Validate designs against structural, hydraulic, and functional performance requirements.
• Diagnose issues and implement improvements to reduce downtime.
