Job summary

Global Laser Enrichment in Wilmington, NC seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical systems for their first-of-a-kind uranium enrichment program.

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will own components from concept through fabrication, perform analyses, coordinate designs, and mentor a team of designers. This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain NRC Q-clearance and nuclear site access.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in mechanical design and product development.
• Experience leading complex engineering programs from concept to fabrication.
• Proficient in structural, stress, thermal analyses and FEA.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and design solutions from system requirements.
• Set mechanical requirements, interfaces, and design basis inputs.
• Perform first-principles calculations to verify equipment performance.
• Conduct structural, stress, thermal analyses and FEA as needed.
• Coordinate CAD models, drawings, and documentation with designers.
• Lead design reviews and address technical risks.
• Support procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Incorporate lessons learned into design improvements.
• Collaborate with process, systems, test, manufacturing, electrical, and controls.
• Mentor engineers and designers.
• Help develop mechanical engineering standards and practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
