Job summary

Global Laser Enrichment LLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer in Wilmington, NC, for on-site, full-time work. You will translate engineering concepts into complete mechanical designs, create 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs, and support UF6 gas handling systems and related facilities.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, advanced 3D CAD skills, GD&T expertise, and the ability to obtain and maintain NRC Q-clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD and complex mechanical assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Experience with tolerance analysis, configuration control, and design release.
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work independently within engineering constraints.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NRC Q-clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs from concepts and inputs.
• Create and manage complex assemblies with top-down and parametric modeling.
• Produce manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
• Apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up evaluations.
• Resolve packaging and interface issues with engineers and suppliers.
• Review CAD models and drawings for accuracy and manufacturability.
• Coordinate design activities across designers and participate in design reviews.
• Support configuration control, design release, CAD standards, and drawing practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, fabricators, and test personnel.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, and design modifications.
• Mentor junior designers on CAD methods and drawing quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
