Job summary

Global Laser Enrichment in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead detailed design activities for our first-of-a-kind uranium enrichment program. This on-site role reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and requires the ability to hold NRC Q-clearance.

You will develop detailed designs, manage complex assemblies, produce drawings and BOMs, apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T, and mentor junior designers while collaborating with engineers, machinists, and suppliers to resolve

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD and complex assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience creating drawings and bills of materials.
• Experience with tolerance analysis and design release.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs from concepts and inputs.
• Create and manage complex assemblies using top-down and parametric modeling.
• Produce drawings, BOMs, and related design documentation.
• Apply GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up evaluations.
• Coordinate design activities across designers and reviews.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, and design modifications.
• Mentor junior designers on CAD methods and drawing practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, suppliers, and test personnel.
• Maintain configuration control and CAD standards.
