Job summary

Global Laser Enrichment LLC seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Wilmington, NC to provide technical leadership for mechanical systems supporting the first-of-a-kind uranium enrichment program. You will own assigned systems from concept through fabrication, assembly, testing and commissioning, translating requirements into engineered solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical design and product development experience, including leadership of complex programs.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and analysis.
• Experience with structural, stress, thermal analyses and FEA.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and manufacturing drawings, and knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to obtain and maintain NRC Q-clearance and nuclear site access.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and design solutions based on system requirements.
• Coordinate CAD models, drawings, and design documentation with designers and engineers.
• Lead design reviews and resolve technical risks and design issues.
• Support procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Evaluate test results and apply lessons learned to design improvements.
• Collaborate with process, systems, test, manufacturing, electrical, and controls teams.
• Provide technical mentoring to engineers and designers.
