Job summary

SOC LLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Wilmington, NC to lead the development of first-of-a-kind uranium enrichment technology mechanical systems. You will own systems from concept to commissioning and mentor a team of designers and engineers.

You will perform analyses, coordinate CAD development, and ensure robust design documentation while interfacing with process and electrical teams. NRC Q-clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in mechanical design and product development including leadership of complex programs.
• Experience bringing mechanical equipment from concept through fabrication and testing.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering analyses and design.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and solutions from requirements.
• Establish mechanical design criteria, interfaces, and inputs.
• Perform first-principles calculations to verify equipment performance.
• Conduct structural, stress, and thermal analyses and FEA as needed.
• Coordinate CAD models, drawings, and design documentation with Designers.
• Lead design reviews and resolve technical risks and issues.
• Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning.
• Incorporate test results and lessons learned into improvements.
• Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines and mentor staff.
