Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, analysis, and modification of mechanical systems for nuclear power plant operations. The role reports to the Manager, Procurement Engineering and is located at our Rock Hill, SC facility with hybrid options in the US.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 4+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of codes and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • Experience with mechanical system design, analysis, and troubleshooting in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) is beneficial.
  • Experience with equipment qualification, environmental and seismic analysis, and aging management programs.
  • Familiarity with nuclear plant licensing, modification processes, and configuration management.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and analyses for mechanical systems, components, and equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels).
  • Develop, review, and approve design changes, modifications, and engineering documents in accordance with plant procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of mechanical system issues.
  • Prepare and review procurement specifications, engineering change packages, and work instructions.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Participate in plant walkdowns, system health monitoring, and operability assessments.
  • Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews for mechanical systems.
  • Ensure adherence to industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, NRC, IEEE) and plant licensing basis.
