Job summary

L3Harris Technologies Power Systems in Camden, NJ is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Mechanical Engineering to lead electro-mechanical design and analysis for power switchboards and circuit breakers on Navy-based electronic systems.

You will interpret requirements, perform thermal and mechanical analyses, and guide design efforts through production. Role requires strong CAD/FEA skills (SolidWorks, ANSYS), experience with military/environmental specs, and ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 6+ years of related experience; or MS with 4+ years; or 10 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience with mechanical layout and packaging of such systems.
• 6+ years using 3-D CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• 5+ years in military/regulatory specs and standards for design, testing, hardware, material, and processes.
• 5+ years in environmental qualification testing (Commercial/Navy/Military).
• Experience with electro-mechanical design and analyses.

Responsibilities

• Reviews specifications to determine structural, thermal, electro-mechanical and safety characteristics.
• Prepares material and labor cost estimates for proposed designs.
• Collaborates with all engineering disciplines from concept to production.
• Maintains project budget/schedule adherence for tasks.
• Leads mechanical design and analysis, including electro-mechanical calculations and qualification.
• Coordinates and reviews work of the design team and supports drawings.
• Supports manufacturing build and qualification testing and root-cause analysis.
