Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of molten salt process equipment, including ASME tanks, heat exchangers, piping, and gas systems. You’ll interface with suppliers and internal teams to meet project milestones.

The role requires extensive experience with high-temperature equipment, ASME BPVC and B31.3, fixed equipment design, and safety‑first practices across a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of work experience and deep knowledge of ASME BPVC and B31.3.
• Design of industrial scale fixed equipment for high-temperature service.
• Experience with corrosive/hazardous fluid handling and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and design molten salt process equipment including vessels, tanks, valves, pumps, and piping.
• Interface with suppliers and construction teams to procure, install and commission equipment.
• Support mechanical reliability and pipe stress evaluations in later project stages.
• Collaborate with R&D and interfacing systems to incorporate learnings into designs.
• Maintain safety-first culture across all project stages.
