Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Molten Salt Engineer to support the Blanket System team in Devens, MA. The role involves executing SOPs, materials testing in molten salts, and designing test cells, with growth toward experimental design and project leadership.

Candidates should have 0–2 years of work experience and a chemistry/engineering background; safety culture and cross-disciplinary teamwork are valued highly. Travel and flexible hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Background in chemistry or chemical engineering with lab experience.
• Experience with safety systems for hazardous chemicals encouraged.
• Ability to learn quickly and work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrosion testing of novel materials in molten salts.
• Perform device testing in molten salts to obtain statistics on device performance.
• Design and build new test cells for molten salt R&D.
• Assist with lab maintenance and upkeep.
• Write and modify SOPs for safe handling of hazardous chemicals, including fluoride salts (FLiBe).
