Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems in Massachusetts is seeking an entry-level Molten Salt Engineer to support our Blanket System experiments. You will execute SOPs, conduct routine materials testing, and maintain quality controls while growing into design and project leadership responsibilities.

Ideal candidates hold a background in chemistry or related fields and can collaborate across engineers, scientists, and technical staff in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field required.
• 0–2 years of work experience in an R&D lab.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrosion testing of novel materials in molten salts.
• Perform device testing in molten salts to obtain statistics on device performance.
• Design and build new test cells for molten salt R&D.
• Assist with lab maintenance and upkeep.
• Write and modify SOPs for safe handling of hazardous chemicals, including fluoride salts (FLiBe).
