Job summary

MetOx International, Inc. in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on MOCVD equipment to design and develop advanced manufacturing systems enabling high-temperature superconducting wire production.

You will lead mechanical design, testing, and optimization, collaborating with Process, Manufacturing, Equipment, Controls, and R&D to deliver robust, scalable solutions for commercial manufacture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Four years of engineering experience including MOCVD, PVD, or vacuum systems.
• Advanced degree may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience designing or supporting MOCVD or thin-film deposition equipment.
• Experience with vacuum systems, thermal systems, and precision assemblies.
• Thermal engineering in high-temperature environments.
• Vacuum engineering: high vacuum design, seals, leak testing.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems supporting MOCVD and related equipment.
• Applies advanced mechanical engineering to vacuum, thermal, and precision assemblies.
• Designs and develops core mechanical components and tooling for manufacturability and reliability.
• Partners with Process Engineering to translate process requirements into robust designs.
• Performs analysis, testing, and validation to meet functional requirements.
• Develops drawings, specs, validation plans, and assembly procedures.
• Supports commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Owns projects from concept through production support.
• Defines scope, timelines, and success criteria.
• Leads cross-functional design reviews and coordinates resources.
