Job summary

Arn Autonomy is building GRID, an autonomous rebar-tying robot, and seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical and electromechanical design, prototyping, and testing on real hardware. You will mentor colleagues and work closely with software, electrical, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust hardware for field deployment.

This in‑person role in the San Francisco Bay Area requires shipping real hardware to customers, with ownership of design reviews and manufacturing readiness for

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
• Hands‑on experience designing electromechanical assemblies for mobile platforms.
• Proficiency with CAD packages and GD&T fundamentals.
• Experience turning 3D models into complete drawing packages for machined parts.
• Structural analysis skills with hand calcs and/or FEA.
• Experience mentoring engineers; management not required.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanisms, gantry, chassis, and actuators for a mobile robot for outdoor environments.
• Size and select electric motors and gearboxes from system requirements.
• Analyze chassis performance on uneven ground and terrain.
• Integrate motors, sensors, cabling, and power transmission into field-ready assemblies.
• Produce 3D drawing packages with GD&T, materials, finishes, and inspection requirements.
• Prototype, instrument, and validate hardware; perform tests and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with software, electrical, and manufacturing teams.
