Job summary

Furientis in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a motivated Mechanical Engineer to own the design, analysis, build and test of primary and secondary structures for interceptor missiles. Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering; M.S. welcomed.
• 6+ years of hands-on mechanical design of flight structures or mission-critical systems.
• Strong structural intuition; know when to use hand calcs, FEM, and ground testing.
• Fluency in metallic or composite design, analysis, and manufacturing.
• Proficiency with GD&T and manufacturability in part design.
• Excellent cross-disciplinary communication.
• U.S. Person, eligible to obtain a U.S. SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Be a Responsible Engineer for a major interceptor subsystem, integrating structures, interfaces with propulsion, seekers, avionics, GNC, recovery, and mechanisms.
• Take parts from CAD to prototype to flight hardware; specify, source, machine, fabricate, inspect, and assemble with technicians.
• Design and build the launcher and ground equipment: fixtures, cradles, environmental enclosures, and rail interfaces.
• Run vehicle integration, environmental tests, and ground/flight campaigns; analyze data and close out anomalies.
• Select materials, processes, and joining methods with cost and producibility in mind.
• Coordinate with aero, propulsion, avionics, seeker, and CoAS on interfaces and integration tasks.
