Job summary

Verathon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III for its Urology R&D team in Bothell, WA. You will design, analyze, and develop complex medical device systems, translating requirements into mechanical designs and supporting verification, validation, and manufacturing activities.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with systems, electrical, manufacturing, and quality teams, adhering to Verathon's NPD process and regulatory standards. On-site in Bothell with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or relevant engineering field.
• Experience with solid modeling; SolidWorks preferred.
• 3+ years in medical device industry or other highly regulated industry is common.
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with MathCAD, Minitab, and Python is preferred.
• Product development experience in medical devices, especially endoscopic or minimally invasive devices, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical contributor for major development projects or multiple simultaneous projects.
• Ensure engineering design activities follow the development procedure and maintain design control.
• Create and release product requirements, design specifications and design descriptions per medical device standards.
• Interact with stakeholders and manufacturing to design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Design robust systems using knowledge of manufacturing processes and tolerances.
• Research design options and perform experiments to assess feasibility or remediate designs.
• Support development of business justifications and cost proposals for capital equipment, prototyping, and V&V activities.
• Research and implement emerging technologies to advance medical device design for production transfer.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings for injection molding, machined parts, and integrated systems.
• Utilize additive manufacturing technologies in part design and prototyping.
• Share knowledge within the team through mentoring.
