Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Marine Product team at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

The role focuses on advanced mechanical or electromechanical solutions within the marine product line, combining design, analysis, and project planning. You will work as a Master CAD-user, employing SolidWorks or OnShape, tackle complex designs, lead testing and verification, and collaborate with vendors to evaluate costs and tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use CAD software for complex designs.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete the most difficult tasks as a Master CAD-user including the completion of complex mechanical designs.
• Apply knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining and materials to designs.
• Specify test plans, mockups and test complex mechanical systems to validate design requirements.
• Lead tradeoffs, assess risk mitigation plans and drive vendor evaluations for complex designs.
• Lead explorations of new technologies and estimate tooling, part cost and design time.
• Provide technical input to product development plans and concept documents.
• Support qualification tests and implement process improvements.
