Job summary

Leonardo DRS in High Ridge, MO seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead development of marine water-cooled chiller systems, including heat exchangers and HVACR equipment for commercial and defense markets. The role focuses on new product development and supporting legacy products, with emphasis on centrifugal chiller systems.

Responsibilities include leading projects, sizing equipment, evaluating components, supplier engagement, design reviews, and producing technical docs and BOMs for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Experience designing chiller systems, esp. centrifugal water-cooled chillers.
• Experience leading engineering projects developing new systems.
• Knowledge of LGWP refrigerants used in HVAC&R systems.
• Experience drafting with mechanical equipment and providing technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support projects developing marine chiller systems including centrifugal compressor systems.
• Engineer HVAC&R equipment for sizing, selection, and performance predictions.
• Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
• Engage in supplier scouting and evaluation for new projects.
• Recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products.
• Investigate and resolve product or process problems.
• Develop product designs, manufacturing drawings, BOMs and supporting docs for fabrication and prototyping.
• Review customer specs for bids and develop compliant designs.
• Create technical documentation, manuals, and procedures.
