Job summary

Mission Design & Automation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of custom automated equipment from concept through startup. You’ll own the engineering process, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality systems on time and within budget.

This role offers challenging projects, ownership, and opportunities to influence technical direction, improve standards, and see designs become real machines customers rely on.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing automation machinery.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision making.
• Proven ability to lead projects from concept through production.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design, development, and documentation of custom automated equipment.
• Develop reliable, cost-effective mechanical solutions that meet customer specs and standards.
• Serve as technical lead, identifying and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor and train junior mechanical engineers.
• Review designs for manufacturability, quality, and adherence to customer requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Support sales and quoting with conceptual machine designs and cost estimates.
• See designs through startup, debugging, and production implementation.
